SPIRITUAL GRIND

When I say spiritual grind, I’m not talking about striving to earn more of God’s love, favor, or acceptance. Let’s make that clear. We already have that through Jesus. We’re not grinding to get closer to God’s approval. We’re grinding to walk deeper into what’s already been given, to live it out, to keep it sharp, to train in it, and to stay anchored when everything else wants to pull us away.
It is Training, Disciplines, Sacrifice and Surrender!!

This Is Not Religion, This Is Heart Work

This grind isn’t about checking religious boxes or polishing ourselves up like modern day Pharisees. It’s not about performance or appearance. This is heart work. Soul work. Holy work.

Men Marked by the Life of Christ

It’s about becoming men who actually look like Jesus. Men marked by discipline, sacrifice, character, and integrity. Men who grind against the flesh, our laziness, our comfort, our passive nature, and choose the long road of growth. The narrow road. The road where grit meets grace and where holiness is forged in the fire of daily decisions.

Faithful Over Impressive

We’re not here to be impressive. We’re here to be faithful. Faithful with what God has entrusted to us. That means training. That means dying to ourselves. That means saying no to what’s easy and yes to what’s eternal. Not because we’re earning something, but because we want more of Him. Because we’ve tasted His presence, and we want to go deeper. We want to be men of heart, men who reflect the heart of Christ in how we live, lead, speak, love, and serve.

We’re not just surviving. We’re becoming. The Training Ground for Godliness

This is the spiritual grind.
Where we train for godliness.
Where we work out what God is working in.
Where we guard our hearts with diligence.
Where we endure the discipline because we know the harvest is coming.

Growth Requires Our Participation

God does the transformation, yes, but He calls us to show up for it. This life isn’t passive. It’s not automatic. Growth doesn’t just happen because we believe. It happens when belief leads to action. When faith is forged in obedience.

Tending the Soil of the Soul

Think of it like this. God gives the seed. But we’ve got to work the soil. We’ve got to pull the weeds of distraction, pride, passivity, and selfishness. We’ve got to water it daily through the Word, prayer, fasting, accountability, and surrender. We’ve got to keep the ground soft, because a hard heart won’t grow anything. The grind is what keeps the soil ready. It’s what guards the gift.

The Athlete’s Standard in Spiritual Life

Just like any top athlete who trains for the goal. They train. They discipline. They put in two-a-days. They watch their nutrition. They’re in the gym. They put in the reps. Just like a boxer. Just like jiu-jitsu. Any kind of sport. Any musician. Any singer. Any trade. They put in the work. They train. They grind at this to become a better version of themselves. We all admire the greatness we see in others, but sometimes we forget all the hours, all the reps, all the consistency that went into it. The long nights. The early mornings. The pain and the repetition. That’s what it’s like on the spiritual side. We train. We sacrifice. We grind. And the evidence is the fruit of the Spirit. But we don’t do it by ourselves. When we do it with God, tangibly, there is an anointing that happens. And the fruit of the Spirit just comes out. Not forced. Not fake. Just real. Alive. Overflowing.

God the Chain Breaker and Healer

God is the one who breaks chains, strongholds, and addictions. He’s the one that brings healing. He is the God who is still God, and He still does this. He wants a surrendered heart. But our grinding with God helps us keep this, grow in this, and walk it out. This is sanctification. This is the process of working out our salvation, not in isolation, but in partnership with the living God. Us with God. God with us. Walking through the fire. Through the junk. Not to earn the gift, but to guard it. To grow in it. To give it to others.

My Story of Freedom and Restoration

I’ve seen it in my own life. I’ve seen my marriage restored. I’ve seen my family restored. I’ve been clean and sober for 15 years now from Meth and Cocaine…but I lived a life that was selfish, self centered, full of anger, bitterness, and a sex addiction like no other. I hurt my marriage and my family. God broke those chains. He set me free. But within the grind, within the process, He also showed me things about myself I never saw. He exposed wrong beliefs, broken mindsets, hidden wounds. That’s the beautiful journey of grinding with God. He takes something away, then He shows you something. He reveals it, heals it, restores it, and gives you a new lens. He elevates your mindset. He rebuilds your identity. And He gives you strength to keep grinding, not with shame, but with excitement. With passion. With purpose. He gives you new desires, new joy, new fire. And suddenly, you can’t help but make a difference in someone else’s life. The overflow becomes impact. And that’s what this is all about.

The Forge of the Hidden Work
This is the work behind the scenes. This is where men are forged.

When the Grind Hurts but Heals

And for me, this isn’t theory. I’ve lived it. I’m still living it. There’ve been seasons where the grind felt unbearable. Where the heart work felt like open surgery. Where God was pulling things out of me I didn’t even know were in there. I’ve had to stare down my own pride, my own weakness, my own inconsistency. I’ve had so much hurt and un forgiveness in my heart towards my own family, others, myself and even God. I’ve wrestled. I’ve wept. I’ve almost walked away. But I stayed. Because He stayed. And that grind? It has changed me. It’s not just shaped how I live. It’s shaped who I am.

The Man I Strive to Be

I don’t want to be a man who looks the part but lacks the fruit. I don’t want to be polished on the outside but passive in my spirit. I want to be a lion and a sheepdog. Strong, but surrendered. Bold, but gentle. Fierce in the fight, but tender in my love. A man led by the Spirit. A man of heart, class, character, and conviction.

And I’ll be honest, it takes grit. It takes grind. It takes a daily dying to self. But I’ll also tell you this, it’s worth it. Every sacrifice. Every fast. Every rep in prayer. Every early morning in the Word. Every temptation turned down. Every moment of humbling obedience. It’s worth it.

The Pure Motive

Because I’m not grinding to prove something. I’m grinding because I’ve been given something. And I want more of Him. That’s it. That’s the motive. That’s the fire.

Your Invitation to the Grind

So if you’re here, reading this, welcome. This is your invitation. Not to earn, not to perform, not to polish yourself up, but to step into the grind. To do the deep, daily, behind-the-scenes heart work that makes you a man after God’s own heart.

For Men Who Want More

This is a place for men who want more.
More of Him.
More purpose.
More grit.
More growth.
More depth.
More impact.

For God’s Glory Alone
Not for show. Not for hype. But for the glory of God.

Final Charge
Let’s keep grinding, my brother. The Kingdom is worth it. Let’s go.
